A. Background Objectives
The Multi-Purpose Water for Climate-Resilient Irrigation Development and Agro-Industrialisation Programme (MWaCRIDA-P) is an integrated water, agriculture and agro-industrialisation programme intended to increase access to water and strengthen the production and commercialisation of strategic agricultural value chains in Uganda’s Bunyoro subregion. The School Feeding Programme under Subcomponent 2.3 is intended to improve child nutrition and education outcomes while creating structured market linkages between participating schools and local producers, particularly women and youth. The programme will support energy-efficient school feeding infrastructure; access to nutritious meals; safe food handling and nutrition capacity; local procurement from smallholder farmers; school gardens; and institutional strengthening for a sustainable school feeding system. The intervention is expected to reach 21,000 school-age children. The assignment will be financed through the Ending School-Age Hunger (ESAH) Trust Fund. The objective of the assignment is to establish the evidence base for school selection, programme design, infrastructure investment, nutrition and food-safety requirements, implementation arrangements, costs and sequencing, and to translate the approved School Feeding Programme framework into a practical, prioritised and costed implementation plan.
